Country Wall Mirror

Text, photos & design by Tom Hintz

I have received a lot of email asking about a simple, painted project, and this is the result.

Based around a standard 12"-square mirror tile, I built this from plain pine, using biscuit joints and pegs turned on my lathe. For someone who wants to learn mortise and tenon or half-lap joints, they can be applied easily by simply increasing the length of the rails as needed.

We finished the project with white latex enamel which my wife, Beth, (the official NewWoodworker.com finishing department) distressed before adding a very nice floral design and lettering.

This project could be built from virtually any type of wood and finished to match the decor of your home or that of someone you would like to give it to as a gift.
