When Bosch released their Bosch 4000-09 Worksite Table Saw the Gravity-Rise™ stand that they put that saw on drew as much print and email chatter as the saw itself. While lots of companies offer fold-up saw stands, none have the Gravity-Rise™ stand capabilities. The Bosch Gravity-Rise™ stand represent real breakthrough thinking and Bosch decided to apply that technology to a new miter saw stand. The result is the same kind of ease of use, stability when opened and space-saving footprint in the stowed configuration.

The Basics

The Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand is a patented design that makes lifting and lowering relatively heavy miter saws remarkably easy. We could probably spend a bunch of time talking about pivot points and leverage but that is very boring but using the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand is not. Just accept the fact that you will be surprised at how easily it folds and sets up.

The Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand can handle base molding (Angled) up to 3-1/2" wide, crown molding (Angled) 4-1/4"-wide. The Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand is 34-1/2"-tall, 51-1/2"-long, the length with supports fully extended is 103.15" and it handles material lengths up to 16-feet. The stand is 48-1/2”, the width is 27-3/4” and it weighs 76-pounds. The 8”-tall tires make moving this stand with my Bosch 10” SCMS on it very easy. When folded up, the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand saves a bunch of precious shop space with a much smaller footprint than is possible with many stands.

The 8"-tall tires (left) make moving over rough ground easy. The adjustable front pads (right) let you stabilize this stand when the ground below it is not perfect.

The Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand comes in a surprisingly large box that has a shipping weight of 78-lbs. Despite the size of the box, you have to assemble much of the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand. The good news is that this is a Bosch machine and they do a very good job of guiding your through the assembly. Putting my Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand together, including installing my Bosch 4410L Bosch SCMS on the mounts took about 20-minutes.

Simple but Tough Mounts

While the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand is obviously designed to carry the saw with it, you will still have to take it off occasionally or want to move it to one side or the other on the main rail to accommodate some cuts. Bosch gave the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand saw mounts just like those on their GTA3800 Miter Saw Stand. These mounts are designed to accept all Bosch miter saws as well as similar machines from their competitors as well. Sliding nuts built into the mounts makes configuring them for your saw very easy. Bosch even includes good quality fasteners to secure your saw to the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand.
These mounts also make it easy to remove or install your miter saw on the stand. Flip open the locking levers on the front of the mounts and you can lift the saw off. Slip the mounts over the main rail and flip the locks closed and the saw is locked in place.

Outreach

The work supports on either side (left) are mounted on tough steel bars and have adjustable height contact surfaces. Each side also has this tool-free repetitive cut stop (right) that brings even more accuracy to the stand.

The Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand has pullout work support arms to the left and right of the saw. When fully extended this support system lets you work with material up to 16-ft-long! These extension arms are locked and unlocked with hand operated knobs. To keep the extensions steady and able to handle such long wood each is mounted on a pair of 1-1/8”-diameter steel shafts. The work supporting fixtures on either side each have an adjustable contact bar that can be set anywhere within a 2” vertical range so that you can make them perfectly level with the table on your saw. And all of this is tool-free so you can make changes on the fly quickly if need be.

Each of the work supports also has a pull-up repetitive cut stop. This will come in very handy as cutting several pieces the same length is a common job in any workplace situation. Here also, the repetitive stops are tool free and can be extended or retracted into the stowed configuration quickly and without tools.

In the Shop

Since I had worked with the earlier Gravity-Rise™ saw carts the ease with which the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand moves my Bosch 4410L miter saw around was not a big surprise. I have used several other miter saw stands and none really compare with the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand. When it comes to setting up or tearing down the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand is head and shoulders above the crowd. The lack of physical effort required to collapse, move and then set the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand up for work again is remarkable but there is more.

All of the adjustments (left) are tool-free so you can set up or tear down quickly. the saw mounts (right) are very tough but make it easy to remove the saw (with mounts) when that is needed.

The large tires along with how the saw is mounted make moving the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand with the saw in place very easy even when the terrain is lumpy. The wide stance of the wheels makes moving it over those less than flat surfaces easy. Then when you set it up on that uneven surface the adjustable front feet let you stabilize the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand and saw quickly.

Even with the extension arms fully extended and a long board laying across them the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand is very stable. Part of that is certainly due to the wide stance of the wheels and supporting pads but we cannot minimize the tough steel tubing framework that supports everything. The Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand is made to be used for a very long time whether you are in the shop or on a job site.

Conclusions

As was the case with the original Gravity-Rise™ stand, the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand is uniquely designed and built to be more than tough enough for the job. Raising and lowering the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand with a miter saw on it is surprisingly easy because they got all of the pivot points along with the length of the moving parts just right.

If you have been considering a miter saw stand you need to take a hard look at the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand. Whether you are a full time contractor or a well-equipped DIY’r the Bosch T4B Gravity-Rise™ Miter Saw Stand will make it much easier to get your miter saw to the job and then let you use it safer and more accurately. With a street price of $299.99 (4-18-2011) you can add this kind of mobility to your miter saw cheaper than I would have guessed.
